Maturing Partnerships
In addition to our many community library and literacy partners, Child Aid has long term relationships with three local organizations, PROBIGUA, CORAL and FUNDIT, that we have helped grow to the point where they have become largely independent, fully functioning, successful local organizations. While Child Aid still provides significant monetary, technical and organizational support to all three of these organizations, in keeping with our mission, we are working hard to assist these entities in their organizational growth and independence to further enhance their sustainability.
FUNDIT
The Foundation for the Integral Development of El Tejar/Fundación para Desarrollo Integral de El Tejar (FUNDIT) encourages the healthy development of children and their families by providing opportunities for education and self-improvement. Child Aid assumed the support and development of this organization after the tragic untimely death of its dedicated founder Nancy de España. Read More
CORAL
The Oaxacan Center for the Rehabilitation of Hearing and Speech/Centro Oaxaqueño de Rehabilitación de Audición y Lenguaje, A.C. (CORAL) offers hearing-impaired children and adults living in extreme poverty the gift of a brighter future by providing a full range of low-cost hearing rehabilitative services and programs in Oaxaca, Mexico.
The only organization of its kind in Southern Mexico, all CORAL´s programs and services are designed to fully integrate deaf people into their families and communities so that they may lead richer lives. Read More
PROBIGUA
The Guatemalan Library Project/Proyecto Bibliotecas Guatemala (PROBIGUA) works to curb rampant illiteracy by building libraries in some of the poorest and most marginalized communities in Guatemala. For over a decade Child Aid has worked with PROBIGUA to build, stock and supply 26 libraries and 16 computer centers across the country. In addition PROBIGUA now operates 2 bibliobuses that serve rural communities that do not have libraries. Read More
