The Library of Congress (LOC) announces today that Child Aid wins a 2020 Literacy Award for our work in elementary schools in Guatemala. Since 2013, The LOC has honored organizations doing exemplary, innovative and replicable work.
Child Aid is one of 25 organizations worldwide so honored this year, and we are recognized in the “best Practices” category for our efficient and effective teacher-training and book delivery program. All of the 2020 recipients are recognized for their efforts made to promote literacy and respond to the needs of our time. A Literacy Awards Program Interactive map and additional information on the awards and previous winners is available at read.gov/literacyawards.

Library of Congress 2020 Literacy Awards Event
Join Child Aid CEO Nancy Press on Thursday, November 19/ 1:30 pm (ET) in conversation with fellow recipients of The Library of Congress 2020 Literacy Awards – Book Dash, Island Readers and Writers and Room to Read.
These award-winning literacy leaders will discuss the digital divide — the gulf between those who have access to the Internet and computers and those who do not. How do you keep learners engaged in reading and writing without the technological tools that so many use today? How can we bring parity to the literacy landscape? Please join Nancy in discussing this important topic.
