Child Aid runs a five-week educational camp for indigenous educators at the Maia School in Guatemala. While Maia focuses most of its work at the middle-grades level, Child Aid’s award-winning program zeroes in on elementary education, including the most basic learning building blocks of reading, writing and basic comprehension. According to Victor Moscoso, Maia Academy Director, the beauty of our partnership is that our five-week, immersive camp helps these teachers-in-training be ready to meet students wherever they are and lead children of all levels — elementary and middle-grades — forward in their educations.
