Check out these great photos of World Book Day activities at Child Aid partner schools in April. Thanks to books and support provided by Child Aid, the schools used the annual “Dia del Libro” celebrations to pump up students’ passion about reading. More than 10,000 children participated in activities including read alouds, puzzles, reading games, story writing and art projects.

These three girls at the school in La Fe are making the most reading time. Schools around Guatemala celebrate Book Day each year, but few have enough books to promote reading activities. Thanks to books provided by supporters, Child Aid schools had the resources to make day special for students.

Hundreds of books are on display for kids to explore and read on their own at the school in Panaj. The school created a grand, colorful display of books and posters for their students in the courtyard of the school which generated a lot of excitement among the students.

The Xejolón school celebrated writing as well as reading. They had students write stories and legends. Then they created murals to share their creations with other students. Here, teacher Telma Mucia reads one of the stories to a group of kids.
