More than 80,442 high-quality, Spanish-language books arrived in #Guatemala in early February 2023.
Child Aid aims to build a culture of reading to the schools and communities where we bring our literacy program, and good books make all the difference.
In late February, spanish language books were delivered to elementary schools in Guatemala where Child Aid works. These books will stock the shelves in these schools with stories, adventures, and so much more!
We’ve recently expanded to our fourth department (state) and nearly 18,000 of these new books are earmarked for elementary school libraries and classrooms in Quiché.
Most Guatemalan classrooms are lucky to have one or two books per student, and many of these books are outdated and not suitable for a child learning to read.
